A recently-published book for Joomla is described as a book for beginners, but it is well-written and has something for anyone who has never used Joomla, or for the proficient Joomla user.
Beginning Joomla, by Dan Rahmel, is available from Amazon, and is based on Joomla 1.5. While the book doesn't go into specifics on the changes from Joomla 1.0 to Joomla 1.5, the illustrations show how to install, design and operate a Joomla website using the Joomla Content Management System.
Rahmel combines a clear style of prose with a step-by-step description
of the process for setting up the site, adding content, adding a
pleasing appearance and adding extensions for the most effective
website. It is certainly on my short list of Joomla books that I have
learned to turn to. If I were to have only two or three books on Joomla
web design, Dan Rahmel's book would certainly be one of them.
Rahmel also has a more advanced book on Joomla for developers, which is also useful for very advanced users of Joomla in designing a website. It is not particularly useful for our purposes.
